Heat and Your Battery

If you have any concerns about your battery or any other automotive maintenance or repair issue, our certified mechanics are here to help. NAPA has rebates that range from $15 to $25 with the purchase of qualifying batteries or alternator. (Rebate valid July 1-August 31, 2018)

Does My Car Need A Mechanic?

Does My Car Need A Mechanic?

When deciding if you need to take your car to a mechanic use 4 of your senses: what you feel, hear, see and smell. Do you feel anything unusual? Does you steering wheel shake? Do you feel a vibration? Do you hear anything unusual? Are there clunking noises or squeaking sounds? Do you hear a noise when turning? Do you see anything unusual? Are any of your dashboard lights on? Do you see fluid in your driveway or on the street? Finally, do you smell something strange? There could be a gas or oil odor, or even the smell of something burning. This is not meant to include everything but it does give you some things to think about. The other thing I would tell you is to go with your gut. If it doesn't seem right, get it checked out. You can always stop by or call for an appointment and our friendly and knowledgeable staff will be happy to help you. Our experience technicians are all ASE Certified and here to help. call us

Driving In The Snow

Driving In The Snow

Before you drive anywhere in the snow, you should make sure that you and your car are ready. First and foremost listen to the experts. If they tell you to stay off the roads then stay put. However, some of you may absolutely have to get out. If that is the case, you must determine if your vehicle is able to handle what's out there. You must have good tires for the snow and they should also have good tread. Your battery should be fully charged and your wiperblades should be in good shape. Visibility is of utmost importance. Also, make sure that you have an emergency kit available that includes warm blankets. You should include snacks, water and a snow shovel. If we can help you in any way, please don't hesitate to give us a call. Our certified technicians are ready to help! #winterstormstella #tires #battery

Vehicle Inspection

When your car comes in for an oil change, our certified technicians perform a complimentary vehicle inspection, also known as a courtesy check. They actually perform a digital vehicle inspection, or DVI for short. We are one of the only shops in the area offering this to customers. You receive an email that includes our entire evaluation, including photos. You will actually see what the technicians saw when they evaluated your vehicle. You will see the areas that are in good condition, areas that we need to keep an eye on and areas that are of concern. All at no charge to you! This particular evaluation saved our customer money. She purchased this “certified vehicle” about 2 1/2 months ago and brought the vehicle in to see us for an oil change. Upon inspection, the front and rear brakes were at 2 and 3 mm respectively, requiring replacement. Obviously this should not be the case in a recently purchased vehicle. She initally called the place where she purchased ... read more

Your Car and the Weather

Your Car and the Weather

Well we sure didn't get the weather they were calling for but that doesn't mean that weather isn't affecting your vehicle. Be aware that the cold weather affects your battery. You should also check the fluid levels in your vehicle from washer fluid, coolant, power steering fluid, oil… You should also keep in mind that salt on the roads corrode metal. Check that your windshield wiper blades don't need to be replaced and that the blades themselves are clean. Sometimes the wiperblades need to be cleaned themselves to get all the grime off. You also need to check your tires to be sure that they have the correct tire pressures. Did you know that tires lose air pressure in cold weather? You also need to be sure that your tires have good tread left. These are the basics and there are other things to think about as well, but it does give you some things to think about. The good news is that ... read more

Alternators

Alternators

Are you familiar with the function of your vehicles' alternator? When you start your engine, many lights flash on to test the circuits in your car. If everything is okay the lights go out. One light that may stay on indicating that there is a problem, is the car battery light. If this light stays on it means that your battery is not being charged properly. Your battery's job is to provide enough energy to start your engine but you would not get very far on the battery alone. Your alternator provides the current that allows your engine and all the other electrical requirements of the car to run, including keeping your battery at the optimal state of charge. If your alternator is not properly functioning, you could be left stranded. Give us a call so that our experienced mechanics can perform the necessary tests to keep you on the road! We are the the place for automotive repair and vehicle maintenance! We are here for you
